Wentworth Park Sporting Complex Trust

Wentworth Park Sporting Complex Trust has its legislative base within sections 92 and 93 of the Crown Lands Act, 1989, which authorises the Minister for Lands to establish and name a reserve trust, appoint it as trustee of specified reserves, and constitute the Trust as a corporation.

The Trust is charged with the care, control and management of the reserve in the best interests of users. These may include lessees, licensees, sporting groups and the community. Management principles should also ensure the Complex operates as a viable entity. Management must also be consistent with Government policy and initiatives.

The fundamental principles which, determine Trust policy remain:

  • Maximisation of use
  • Diversification of use
  • Sports focus
  • Community benefit

Current Use of the Complex:

104 greyhound races each year conducted by the NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association

  • Major antiques and collectables fair 1st Sunday each month
  • Regular antique and investment jewellery auctions conducted by Combined Auctions
  • Ultimo Public School Sports Carnival and annual Art Show
  • Finals series NSW Suburban Rugby Competition
  • Other sporting and community events
Trust Board - 12.May.2010
The Minister for Lands has appointed a Trust Board for a three year term commencing on 27 May 2010. The Board is the same composition as the last Board.
Community Games Day - 12.May.2010
The third Annual Glebe Ultimo Pyrmont Community Games day will be held on Sunday 12 September 2010. The Trust has once again agreed to provide the complex at no charge for this important community event.
Turnstiles Project - 12.May.2010
The project to create new contemporary turnstiles on Wentworth Park Road is complete. The turnstiles are now up and running, providing stylish and modern access to the sporting facility on race nights.
Northern Perimeter - 12.May.2010
The Trust and Council have agreed to work together and jointly fund a project to remove the existing Northern Wall of the Wentworth Park Sporting Complex and replace it with attractive fencing to help integrate the Complex into the wider Park. The new fence will improve the aesthetic of the park and improve pedestrian access to the Complex from the northern park.
Wattle St Development - 12.May.2010
The Trust and Council have approved the tender for the Wattle Street redevelopment. The trust expects that the work will begin in June and be completed by October. The work will removed the existing fencing and install open fencing in keeping with the new fence on the Wentworth Park Road side of the Complex. This work will continue the improvements to the Complex. Pedestrian access along Wattle Street will be improved.
New Turnstiles - 24.Feb.2010
The project to create new contemporary turnstiles on Wentworth Park Road is nearing completion. The work is being undertaken by Redwood Projects and the building is expected to be operational before Easter.
Northern Perimeter - 24.Feb.2010
The Trust commissioned Tract to prepare conceptual plans for redevelopment of the northern perimeter. The proposed work will replace the walls with palisade fencing, landscape the boundary and create gate access from the northern park into the Sporting Complex.
