Wentworth Park Sporting Complex Trust

Wentworth Park Sporting Complex Trust has its legislative base within sections 92 and 93 of the Crown Lands Act, 1989, which authorises the Minister for Lands to establish and name a reserve trust, appoint it as trustee of specified reserves, and constitute the Trust as a corporation.

The Trust is charged with the care, control and management of the reserve in the best interests of users. These may include lessees, licensees, sporting groups and the community. Management principles should also ensure the Complex operates as a viable entity. Management must also be consistent with Government policy and initiatives.

The fundamental principles which, determine Trust policy remain:

  • Maximisation of use
  • Diversification of use
  • Sports focus
  • Community benefit

Current Use of the Complex:

104 greyhound races each year conducted by the NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association and NSW National Coursing Association

  • Major antiques and collectables fair 1st Sunday each month
  • Regular antique and investment jewellery auctions conducted by Combined Auctions
  • Ultimo Public School Sports Carnival and annual Art Show
  • Finals series NSW Suburban Rugby Competition
  • Other sporting and community events
Wattle Street Development - Proposal Approved - 30.Jul.2008
City of Sydney at its meeting on 2 June 2008 considered the Feasibility Study and Concept Plan to upgrade the Wattle Street frontage. Council unanimously endorsed the study and approved the concept plan. A project manager has been appointed and a process of consultation between City of Sydney, the Trust and the Racing Associations will commence in early August 2008.
Refurbishment of Grandstand & Function Room Closure - 30.May.2008
GRNSW, in conjunction with the Trust, are conducting refurbishment works at Wentworth Park to commence on Monday 23 June 2008. This project will entail significant upgrading to the Bistro, Ground and 1st Floor facilities. The work will be undertaken throughout June, July and August. The 2nd Floor function rooms will cease operation after Saturday 14 June 2008. Patrons wishing to make function bookings after 14 June are advised to call the Trust Office on 9552 1799 to obtain information about alternatives whilst the refurbishment project progresses.
Lease Agreement - Trust & St Andrews Cathedral School - 30.Jan.2008
The Trust and St Andrews Cathedral School have entered into a non-exclusive agreement for use of the venue's playing field and coaching facilities. St Andrews commenced their tenancy in January 2008 and will be conducting various sporting activities on the oval.
